In the early 1950s, Gaspar and Foska Dobravac moved to Rovinj and started an agricultural operation focused primarily on fruit and vegetables, with winemaking then making up a smaller part of the business. In the 1990s their son Damir took over the estate and raised production to a higher level, and over the past ten years or so the family has gradually and fully turned to the wine sector. Alongside vineyards on sites in the western Istria wine district, the family also runs the boutique hotel Villa Dobravac on the estate, where guests can enjoy accommodation with a view of Rovinj and taste homemade products and wine right at the source.
A musical concept and an award-winning muscat
The Dobravac family’s wines are distinctive for their names which, following an idea by their relative, the Rovinj composer Massimo Brajkovic, arrange themselves like music, rising from lighter to weightier structures. The range comprises nine labels, beginning with the fresh Malvazijas Suita and Sonata, continuing through the aged versions Sonata Riserva, Simminor and Simfonija, while the red segment is represented by the Toccata and Fuga labels.
The crown of the range is the Teran Gaspar, which Damir dedicated to his father. The sweet part of the assortment features a Muskat Zuti (Yellow Muscat) named Allegro, whose 2022 vintage won a platinum medal at the Vinistra 2026 judging. All the wines from the family cellar stylistically follow the estate’s culinary offering and are suited to pairing with fish, meat and chocolate delicacies. Cellar visits and tastings are organised directly at the estate in Rovinj.
